Here is my story…
The year was 2017; I was working for the largest advertising agency in Canada. The office was filled with empty board rooms, with gray carpet, 1000’s of workers who shuffled around the water cooler like zombies… Waatterrr… 🧟
At the time, I was only 31 years old and had minimal corporate agency experience…
I learned very quickly that if I was to survive and keep this job I would need to learn the ropes and fast. (I needed the money badly.)
The company was very print-oriented and looked down on digital advertising as if it was a fad or something. (Not Joking)
To top things off — Two years prior, I lost my dad to a drug overdose and my best friend to a drinking and driving accident.
These devastating losses served as a painful reminder that life can be cut short, and if I wanted to achieve my dreams, I had to take action.
I knew I had to make a change.
At the same time, another major turning point in my life was taking place.
I met and married my beautiful wife, and we were blessed with two adorable kids.
They brought a new perspective to my life, showing me the true meaning of happiness and giving me even more motivation to help others achieve their goals.
We had also moved to a new city to take the job and could barely afford the $1680/m rent.
I only had one thing on my mind… Money!
Not only did I want to keep a roof over my children's heads, but we were struggling just to eat.
We had gone to government programs, relied on friends and family… We did anything and everything just to get by!
It has always been my goal to work for myself…
But before taking this job, I started my first “real” business and it failed terribly and very publicly!
I was $85k in debt… To Friends and family!
And yes, my pride and confidence were crushed, but the truth was…
I was afraid that I was going to let my family down. (AGAIN)
And if I did try to start another business, they would no longer love me.
I could not afford to let them down…
But here was the real problem that I could not see at the time…
I sucked… I had no real skills!
It’s not that I didn't want to learn… I didn’t even know what skills to learn.
I tried…

In life up to this point, I had been one inch deep and a mile wide…
I knew a little about a lot… But I just kept coming up short.
And I knew in order to hit my goal of running my own business, I would have to build the right skill set.
But what ones?
Sitting in a meeting that I was not interested in being in, I was scrolling through my Facebook feed when an ad popped up that changed my life…
It was a young man that was super excited about what they were talking about and instantly got my attention…
I stepped out and turned on the volume…
The first thing that I heard was…
“You are just one funnel away!”
It was an invite to join a webinar called “funnel hacks”
My life was changed… The one line he said that I will never forget for as long as I live.
“It’s not just the funnel, it's what goes into the funnel, and that’s how you spend $1 on ads and get $2 out”
You guessed it; this man was no other than Russell Brunson.
I remember being in the bathroom stall, losing my mind…
I thought, “This is it!” – I need to master the skills that will allow me to spend $1 on ads and make $2 back or more.
I was hooked… This led me to study all of the greats in “Direct Response.”
It turns out that it was one of the most genius things I’ve ever seen – This superpower gives you the ability to identify audiences, craft messages, and develop offers for those audiences and amplify that to them, and you guessed it…

I was so excited I had to share my insights with someone…
I finished up with the meeting and told a fellow co-worker about my discovery, and instantly he said.
“We should start a business.”
What kind of business? “An Ad agency.” he continued
Brimming with excitement, he said that he had a realtor that needed someone to run their ads.
At this point, I had never run Facebook ads and only had minor experience with Google Adwords.
I said, “Let’s Do it”
I quit my job and went all in on direct response.
Little did I know I was walking away from a 6-Figure salary to undergo the most challenging 3 years of my life…
That ad agency failed before it started… The difference in vision. (Year One.)
My second attempt was not any better…
I had a partner that just wanted to take cash from the business and do no work. This made it almost impossible to grow the business… (Year Two.)
Every time I got a little better, getting client results was never an issue.
So for my third attempt, I when in solo and boom… We struck gold. (Year Three.)
I would go on to generate $500k+ in revenue a year from the agency…
I personally spent $10 million on ads and generated $40 million in online sales for my clients — I have since gone on to consult on over $100m+ in ad spend!
I had finally done it… I Mastered Direct Response Advertising!
I now work with and continue to learn directly from some of the biggest names in Direct Marketing, such as Brian Kurtz, Scott Oldford, Ben Settle, Rich Shieferan… and hundreds of others!
And yes, I was able to pay back my family & friends for my many failures… (The sweet feeling in the world.)
Move my family from busy Toronto to the beautiful Island of Prince Edward, Where I spend most of my days breathing in the crisp sea air, hanging with amazing friends and family, and building enough memories for thousands of lifetimes!
Finding that success was NOT easy, but it was well worth it.
But that most significant change was the change I saw in myself.
I finally realized I had been enough the whole time, and the love I sought came from inside me and then out into the world.
Not only did my family love me through my journey, but I was also able to support them now the way they deserve.
It changed everything for me…
